Gujarat government has given a big gift to the contract employees. The state government has increased the salaries of contract workers by 30 percent. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took this decision in the state cabinet meeting. After this decision, there will be an additional burden of about Rs 549 crore on the government.

National Bureau, Ahmedabad. The state government has given Diwali gifts to more than 61,000 contract workers in Gujarat. The government has increased the salaries of contract workers by 30 percent. These include employees and officers ranging from class IV employees to constables, sub-inspectors of police, junior special constables. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took this decision in the state cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.

Government spokesperson and Health Minister A. Patel said that contractual workers and officers in various departments of the state have directly received 30% salary increase. This will put an additional burden of about Rs 549 crore on the state government’s treasury. This decision of the government will benefit 61,560 employees and officers. He said that the contract employees of shift three and four have been demanding salary increase for a long time. This regulation will be effective from October 1, 2023.

On the other hand, the Central Government has also sent gifts to the government employees. The central government has increased the poverty allowance (DA) by 4 percent. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting. Now DA of central employees has increased from 42% to 46%. This regulation will be effective from July 1, 2023. Apart from this, the outstanding allowance from July to October will also be released. From November, salaries will be paid at 46% of DA.
