Jaglan correspondent, Aligarh. Due to the negligence of the inspector of Uparkot police station, a woman’s life was in danger on Friday. The woman who had gone to the police station to get her passport verified was waiting for the concerned employee in the office. The Inspector then took the pistol from a police officer and not only loaded it but also pressed the trigger without thinking. The bullet hit the head of a woman standing far away. The son present nearby fainted. The entire incident was captured in CCTV. The woman has been admitted to JN Medical College in critical condition. The inspector absconded after the incident and was suspended.

Local people created a ruckus at the police station for about half an hour demanding the arrest of former SP MLA Zameer Ullah. Demonstrations also took place in medical schools. Uppercoat market is closed. The incident happened around 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

Bhujpura outpost in-charge Manoj Kumar had reached here from Agra only three months ago. He was in the police station in the afternoon. Ishrat Jahan, wife of Shakeel Ahmed, resident of Bone Warehouse, had gone with her elder son Ishaan to get the passport verified. Both were standing in front of the concerned employee’s seat in the office. Manoj Kumar is far away. A soldier from a nearby armory gave him a pistol. As soon as Manoj Kumar picked up the pistol, he loaded it without taking out the magazine and pressed the trigger. Its strings are towards the woman. The woman fell as soon as the bullet hit her. The son was in shock.

When Manoj Kumar went to the woman and placed the pistol on the table, she was unconscious. The police station was packed with people. The former SP MLA reached Kotwali along with people and relatives from other areas including the bone warehouse. Meanwhile the inspector disappears. People started agitating for his arrest. Some people raised slogans against the police. On the other hand, a crowd of people gathered in the medical school.

Seeing the anger, police was deployed there. According to doctors, the bullet hit him in the forehead. The woman has five children. Senior police officer Kalanidhi Naithani said that the inspector is absconding. A team has been appointed to find out. Based on the complaint, a case will be registered against him.
